Go Green' with Canon on World Environment Day

Dubai, UAE, 04 June 2010: Businesses are the backbone of the UAE economy - the millions of offices dotting the emirates' landscape drive the region's dynamic economy and lifestyle while driving its development. With development, comes responsibility to the environment and with this in mind, organisations need to adopt best practices to help save energy and create a sustainable environment for the future. On a corporate level, it is the creation of environmentally responsible products and investing in green technology that gives consumers the ability to adopt sensible and energy-efficient solutions.

To mark World Environment Day on 5th of June 2010, Canon Middle East has launched a laser network campaign aimed at encouraging companies to embrace green technology. As part of the promotion, UAE-based companies will be offered one-off special deals as well as an additional one year onsite warranty that will provide customers with continued after-sales-support.

The new i-SENSYS range of printers is part of Canon's ongoing commitment to minimising environmental burden through the effective application of environmentally friendly technologies. With the lowest TEC (Total Electrical Consumption) rating in its class, as defined by Energy Star, i-SENSYS laser printers are the choice for organisations looking to move towards an ‘eco friendly' office without compromising on productivity.

"Today's consumers are more environmentally aware than ever before. It has become increasingly evident that the environmental impact of products plays an important part in their purchasing decisions as they try to reduce levels of energy consumption. Conversely, the business community's ultimate priority is to increase cost savings and improve technological efficiency. It is therefore vital that this environmental consciousness is reflected at a business level." said Bittu Mattam, Product Manager, Laser Printers, Canon Middle East.

Canon recommends the following best practice tips which can be adopted at a corporate level to create a green office environment:

•1.       Save paper and save money

The first step in going green for your office with paper recycling is to make sure you are only using paper when you absolutely have to. Use emails when you can, and try not to print out copies of something unless it really needs to be printed. Sign all emails off with a reminder to "consider the environment before printing this email."

•2.       Choose low-energy equipment

Purchase energy-saving models for the office, such as computers, printers and photocopiers. Not only will this help save energy, but it will save money too.

•3.       Make sure your printer is Energy Star compliant

Before purchasing a new printer always look for the Energy Star compliant sticker. Typical Electrical Consumption (TEC) figures are a more accurate indication of the costs of powering a device.

•4.       Encourage Duplex printing

Duplex printing plays a small, but instrumental role in the fight against global warming. The production of paper uses much more energy than it takes to print it. This is why double-sided printing and copying will save both resources and money.

•5.       Save power with Quick First Print Technology

The i-SENSYS range of printers is a great example of this, as it provides high speed, on-demand features which ensure lower power consumption.  Instant warm up from powered off or sleeping modes is also guaranteed with Canon's Quick First Print technology (QFP).

Canon launches the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFP platform to the Middle East

  • Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE series is a groundbreaking platform for improved efficiency, security, cost savings and lower environmental impact
  • New range of devices have a new platform and controller offering hundreds of enhancements from previous iR platform, taking on board customer and partner insight
  • Seamless integration into common office systems creates the ultimate digital office.

Dubai, UAE, 17 November 2009: Canon Middle East has officially launched its next generation print platform - the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE, its innovative multifunctional print (MFP) platform at an exclusive event hosted at The Address Hotel in Downtown Burj Dubai on 17th November. Key partners and customers from across the Middle East were able to experience first hand Canon's giant leap in technology, functionality and output quality. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE is specifically designed for the office and light production markets.

Nicolas van Santen, Business Solutions Marketing Manager, said "Canon continually looks to produce innovative products that enhance the way our customers do business. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform is an evolution in office print and document management technology. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE series has been designed to efficiently deliver all the needs of a true digital office in the MENA region."

The new range of office devices - the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5000 series and C7000 series have been designed to address the increasing demands of today's business environment. Suitable for organisations of all sizes, from SMEs to large corporates, the devices help companies become more efficient through easier integration into their document workflows as well as achieving lower operating costs, improved document security and a lower environmental impact.

In addition to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7000 series and C5000 series, Canon has launched 2 models from the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9000 PRO Series. The two new models, individually named imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9070 PRO and C9060 PRO, have been designed from scratch to address the needs of professional print service providers with lower volume production requirements.

"With the imageRUNNER ADVANCE, organisations can maximise efficiency and take control of costs. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE range improves efficiency through direct savings such as reduced running costs, lower power consumption and cost management but also indirectly by reducing the fleet of MFPs an organisation relies upon. With extensive functionality, management and automated workflows, these products are a perfect opportunity for businesses to evaluate best practices in handling and sharing information," added van Santen.

Building on the success of Canon's award-winning iR-range and including feedback and insight gained from customers and partners, the next generation of colour MFPs boast hundreds of enhancements. For example, a new advanced controller delivers improved performance through faster processing. Further enhancements to Canon's industry-first MEAP technology and partnership alliances with leading software providers such as  Adobe, Microsoft and NTWare, ensure that integration with common office systems is straightforward, contributing significantly to improved operating efficiency and security.

imageRUNNER ADVANCE has also been designed with the environment in mind. Every event in the life of a device and the documents it produces has been considered. The range offers the industry's highest levels of energy efficiency with an overall reduction in carbon emissions of up to 50 percent. The new range also uses bio plastic in a number of exterior parts and is Energy Star and ROHS compliant.

The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE will be sold through Canon's accredited channel partners in the Middle East, with the ability to provide the quality of consultancy, service and after-sales support associated with the Canon brand.
