From bird hide to trackside

Keep up with the action, capturing stunning images of fleeting moments. Fast continuous shooting, super accurate focus tracking and superior handling make this camera ideal for anyone photographing wildlife or shooting sports and fast action.

Quick enough to catch the moment

A great choice for sports and wildlife photographers: capture incredibly detailed 32.5 megapixel images at a rate of 10fps with continuous focusing when using the camera’s viewfinder, or 11fps in Live View mode. The APS-C format provides additional ‘reach’ with your telephoto lenses so you can easily get closer to distant action in your composition and create large, powerful prints.

Support for UHS-II SD memory cards lets the camera write images quickly, and allows up to 58 full-size JPEG files, 25 RAW files or 39 CRAW files to be shot in a single burst.

The EOS 90D’s Flicker Detection controls the EOS 90D’s continuous frame rate in order to compensate for the flickering light often found in indoor sports locations.

Stay sharp, stay focused

Even moving subjects are tracked and kept in sharp focus, thanks to the EOS 90D’s sophisticated AF systems. Whether you shoot with the camera’s stunning optical viewfinder, or its versatile Vari-Angle touchscreen, focusing is fast, accurate and precise.

Fast, accurate focusing

45 autofocus points are distributed around the EOS 90D’s optical viewfinder, all of which are cross-type for enhanced sensitivity and accuracy whether shooting horizontally or vertically. Shoot in light as dark as -3EV and with lens-converter combinations that have a maximum aperture of just f/8.

Use AF points by themselves or in groups and areas – which can be moved quickly and easily around the frame using an intuitive AF multi-controller. The iTR AF focusing system uses colour and face information to recognise and track moving subjects. Take control over focus sensitivity and focus tracking to match the camera’s AF behaviour to the kind of subjects you’re photographing.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF

When shooting in Live View mode, or when capturing video, Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF system delivers superb sharpness and wide-area coverage, plus low light performance down to -5EV. With up to 100x88% vertical and horizontal frame coverage, and a choice of up to 5,481 AF positions, you can fine-tune your compositions with ease. The inclusion of Face and eye detection allows moving people to be tracked and kept in sharp focus.

Focus bracketing

When it’s important to have maximum depth of field right across an image, such as when shooting macro photography, focus bracketing can ensure complete sharpness. With one press of the shutter button, the EOS 90D shoots continuously while adjusting the focus distance from its initial position right through to the background. A composite image is then created, using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software, to create an image which is in focus throughout.
